My Skinny Girl
Katie Beth is so tall and so thin! She’s wearing a size five for length right now, but we can ONLY buy the adjustable waist jeans – I owe that inventor many thanks! Today she was getting dressed and she came in with a pair of jeans on and said, “These don’t fit!” I looked at her, and she had on a pair of jeans that seemed to fit everywhere but the length. They looked like capris or old-school knickers. I was sitting there trying to remember when I bought her a pair of denim capris and if I had bought them how they were out in the drawer with her other winter jeans. I was really puzzled, and I had her come over so I could see what brand they were. I peeked at the tag and realized they were EVERETT’S JEANS!! She had a size 24 MONTHS pair of jeans on that were snapped, zipped, and fit fine except for her length! I couldn’t believe her little waist fit into a size two! Her and Everett have the same size waist!! I should have taken a picture, but I got them off of her fast! We all had a good laugh. So, can you see my clothes purchasing predicaments? Especially when trying to buy a year in advance!!??!!

Aidan is like that too! He is 3 and really needs a 4T for the length but could wear a 2T waist. I keep telling him his waist needs to catch up with his length– wish I had that problem! ha!
Wow! Katie Beth is even smaller though because did you say she’s almost 5? I’ll have to read back.
Praying for a good report from the doc for the new baby.
Yes, she’ll be five next month. This past summer, she wore a 2T swimsuit. I have to buy her two pieces because if the one pieces are long enough for her torso, they are too huge on the sides most of the time. I did find one that was okay this last year. It’s definitely trial and error! LOL! I think there are a lot of kids like that though – waists not caught up with their legs!! Obviously so or there wouldn’t be a need for adjustable waists, right???
I think that is a common problem. I am 5′2″ and Sarah Ruth is 4′3″ (at 5 – not sure where that comes from – I think I remember a long time ago Ken being tall and skinny;-). She is also lucky if she weighs fourty pounds. I felt like I was constantly buying jeans for the length and then we would have the problem of ultra droopy bottoms. This is my suggestion for extending the life of the blue jeans (probably works best for girls)….
I personally like to take the hem out of the jeans that still fit except for the length, find some cute fabric and ribbon, and make a ruffle, or band, at the bottom of the jeans (dress them up a little bit). I can then take a little extra fabric to make a cute sash to go through the belt loops. Go to Old Navy or Target when there long sleeved tee’s are marked down. Get a little wonder under and make an applique with the same or coordinating fabric of the jean hem for the shirt, and wa la – a boutique outfit for under $10! The extra fabric adds as many inches as you need to the jeans! Hope this helps some of those long legged girls out there…I personally can’t relate;-(
