8 Things…
I was tagged by Carrie to write 8 things about my kids… If you haven’t been tagged yet to do this (I know Erin, Jessica, and Jolene haven’t been b’c you aren’t in TN! AND I tag Heather, Elizabeth, Jenni, Debbie, and Brittany to GET a blog and post – it’s easy!), are reading this, and haven’t done your 8 things list – do it! It’s a fun thing to sit and think about!
1. Katie Beth tells everyone every chance she gets that she is “almost five and almost in kindergarten”. She cannot stinking wait!
2. Everett’s imagination is taking off. He makes his trains crash - with sound effects, makes his cars race – with sound effects, his action figures fight – with sound effects, and then laughs so hard at himself. It’s so funny to see that creativity come alive.
3. Katie Beth wants to play basketball right now so bad. She’s going to finish out her year of dance, but is thinking as to whether she might like to try something different next year. I hope she takes the chance to try something different every year for the next few years activity-wise to see what she likes.
4. Everett’s favorite cartoon is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on Disney. He knows the common phrases and sings along. He loves the “Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggity dog” song. Second favorite is Little Einsteins. Then again, that’s about all we watch before we turn off the TV.
5. Katie Beth said today in the car, “Mom! Jesus is God AND Jesus is God’s Son!” She admits this is a confusing concept, but she gets so much more than I feel her little brain should fathom. I love to listen to her prayers. I think it may be one of the best sounds in the world – Everett too.
6. Everett came home the other day from church and had done something with a fish in his SS story. I didn’t look at the take home sheet but was guessing Jonah and the whale. I asked if he studied about a big fish swallowing someone. He nodded enthusiastically. I asked who the big fish swallowed. He thought a minute and said, “Ummm, Mary and baby Jesus!!!” – very proud of himself. HA! Turns out the story was about Jesus calling his disciples to be fishers of men. A little off on my part – guess I’ll check that sheet from now on.
7. They are both voracious readers. They will sit and listen to books all day! Everett’s favorite right now is from the library and is “Brown Bear”. He has the entire book almost memorized!!! Katie Beth’s is almost anything about princesses, and they both love Bible stories.
8. Everett will not sit still long enough to really cuddle unless right after nap or in the morning, but he is really getting into coming and giving me hugs and kisses. Is there anything better than a genuine hug from a 2 year old? Katie Beth is definitely my cuddler. She is also so sweet to say encouraging and positive things throughout the day.
Wow, I could think of a 100 more. I am so blessed to be a mom. It truly brings me to tears many a time to think about what a privilege it is to raise these little ones. I’m brought to tears for other reasons during other moments as well – ha! Of course, pregnancy hormones will do that! LOL!
and, I have to add #9 for new kid:
9. New kid has no name, no baby gear out of the attic, no preparations having been completed for him hardly at all, but he is so heavily anticipated – I can’t wait to include him in my “list”! He is pretty active (between Katie Beth and Everett) and sure feels like he’s low and heavy! Keep praying for those kidneys. Doc appt tomorrow for regular checkup and another ultrasound in two weeks…
I loved reading these!
I LOVE hearing that Katie Beth wants to shoot some hoops, tell her as soon as I pop this kiddo out I’ll shoot some with her!! We’re not ready for our 3rd baby yet either, praying for you as you go to the doctor tomorrow, I go too. I will give ya call to see how everything went.
Matt wants me to start a blog too! I never thought I would hear him say that, he thinks I spend enough time on the computer as is. I want to start one, but am nervous?
That weird, I always think, “what if no one reads it or comments”. That would be sad!!
So hopefully soon?!?!?!
Heather

p.s. Heather, you will be a blogging star!!!
