New Kid Has A Name…

Well, we don’t have to call him “new kid”, “the baby”, or “no name” anymore!  :)   We have FINALLY settled on a name unless the hospital hormones do something crazy to change my mind!  LOL!  We have chosen…

NOLAN LEE

Now, Nolan has no family connection – our guy names in our family are names such as Gordon, Garfield, George, Roy, Leonard – names with appeal, but nothing that seemed just right.  So, like Everett, we just picked a name we liked that meant something special to us!  It just took a long time.  Nolan has a lot of different meanings depending on which nationality you look at.  The most common is “famous or noble”.  One version said Nolan meant “descendant of the famous one”.  I liked that!

Lee is a family name.  Both my dad and Jason’s dad have the middle name Lee.  So, he will share a name with both of his grandfathers!  It again has a couple of meanings, but most commonly “meadow”.

With each of our kids’ names, we choose a verse to go with their names.  For Nolan, “famous or noble”, we chose 2 Timothy 2:21, “If a man cleanses himself, he will be an instrument for noble purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.”  And for Lee, “meadow”, we chose Isaiah 44:3b-4 “I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.  They will spring up like grass in a meadow, like poplar trees by flowing streams.”  I just make it a practice to pray these verses over them and kind of make it their life verse as far as their mother is concerned. It’s been neat to see how the kids have changed since Nolan has a name – especially Everett!  He talks about “baby Nolan” and all the things he’s going to teach him constantly.  Most commonly some sport.  They have both seemed so much  more excited about him – he seems more real to us all.  This is when I’m very glad that we found out his sex, have a name, and have connected with him a lot.  It’s fun!

Nolan actually finally has some clothes hung up too!  I pulled out all of Everett’s 0-6 month stuff, washed, folded, and hung it up.  We also pulled some of his “gear” out of the attic, cleaned it up, and have it out.  It’s crazy to think we have a baby coming in just about 6 weeks!  I still have a few things to do, but I certainly feel a bit more settled with him…

We go in Monday for probably our final ultrasound to check his kidneys, unless something is really wrong.  I’ll let you know how it goes!
