Did You See This Story?
http://www.wkrn.com/nashville/news/10yearold-dies-from-meningitis/136181.htm
This story was on the news last week, and I watched it and just ached for the parents. The girl was sent home very sick from school, her parents were worried and took her to the hospital, but the hospital declared her to have the flu and released her. Later that night, as her condition worsened, they called the hospital again. The hospital told them to just take her to the pediatrician in the morning. By 4:30 AM or so, they still had concerns and rushed her to the hospital. They got pulled over for speeding, and the policeman realized that she was already gone. I hurt for her parents and couldn’t imagine knowing something was wrong but not being able to get it treated. Meningitis is hard to diagnose from the flu apparently, and it was just a sad story.
Tonight they had a follow up story on Channel 4 saying that her funeral was today. I was watching, and they put up a picture of the little girl. I sat straight up in bed and realized I had her last year in my classroom!!! I went back online and found the story and realized they mispronounced her name every time they said it and it just didn’t stick out to me. It didn’t click. And, they hadn’t showed a picture until today – at least on the segments I saw. Just pray for her parents. She was a lucky one in that she had good, good parents that truly did care about helping her and staying involved. She was a sweet, sweet girl with a good heart. She definitely had an adventurous side to her, but she was so loveable – you just liked her. She tried so hard. I’m just sad for her family.
There Amy, I don’t have a good ending – I don’t have them either at times. Sometimes there’s just not a way to sum it up nice and neat….

Oh Sarah! I did see that on the news. I just can’t imagine what her parents are going through right now. That just hurt my heart.
Yes I saw that too… it makes your heart break for the family
Hey Sarah – God put you on my heart RIGHT NOW to pray for, so I’m stopping to pray for you and Jason. Maybe it’s for peace – maybe it’s for sweet sleep. Whatever it is, God knows what you need right now.
((hugs)),
