Boots, Oprah, Marriage, Teen Sex, and Sleep Deprivation…

We got it all today! 

Just got toddler snow boots for next year for $6.50 thanks to Bargain Shopper Lady.  Check it out here.  They are selling fast!  BSL has code for free shipping!  We used rain boots this year… didn’t work so fabulously.  I got two pairs for the boys for upcoming years and a pair of black flip flops for me – those are always hard to find to me… all for a total of $22.95!

I saw that Oprah’s show today is on how to dress well for women in their 30’s, 40’s, and 50’s.  I’m not so sure I like that I am now grouped in an age category that is considered to need help in dressing.  Hmm… And what, 60 and 70 year olds don’t need help?  Have you seen that tacky Red Hat Society??? MY GOODNESS!!

I found the Today Show’s response this morning to the NY Governor’s infidelity to his wife due to solicitation of a high-cost prostitute to be very sad.  Instead of sharing how to affair-proof your marriage, discussing why people have affairs, ways to improve your marriage, etc, they started off by stating that 1 out of 4 couples deal with infidelity (I really bet it is higher than that) and then went on with here’s how to tell your children… Really?  It was like a this is so common of a topic, it’s not a big surprise, everyone deals with it, don’t worry about how to prevent it, but here’s how to pop the news to your children.  Then two psychologists expounded on the age appropriate discussions that should occur.  Another reminder that the world definitely cannot understand or comprehend the things of God.  Saved and unsaved are two different worlds.

Also along the same lines, a study was on the news last night that stated I think 49% of teenage girls are sexually active and something like 50% of those are infected with an STD.  Staggering and shocking for sure.  Definitely sad and scary. But, they went on and on about the girls, but what about the boys?  Why not give the stats of how many teenage boys are sexually active and how many of them have STD’s?  To me this just plays into the double standard of society that it’s okay for boys to be sexually promiscuous but not girls.  Who do they think the girls are doing it with???  I feel stating the facts this way disarms parents of boys to think surely not their son…  And, I would venture to guess that the stats for boys is higher than girls.  Wouldn’t you?

Last night was a doozy!  Whoo!  Nolan was up and down solid until about 4 am when he finally settled in.  I think somewhere in there I declared off the fourth child….
