Kidney Appt Update

Nolan’s appointment went well.  The doctor just did an ultrasound this visit.  It showed that his kidneys are about the same as the ones that were done before he was born.  For now we are staying on antibiotics and will go back May 13 for another ultrasound and a VCUG (the big test).  He said from the ultrasound today that he does not think it looks like there is a blockage.  He said from looking at it and coupled with the fact that Katie Beth had kidney reflux that he thinks that’s what it is most likely.  The VCUG will tell for sure.  He said the reflux really does run in families.

It is good that his kidneys have not gotten worse!  We are thankful!  He also looked at his umbilical hernia and said that it looked really good and that his opening does not appear to be large at all.  He still said it could take a couple of years to heal though.  It is strictly cosmetic it appears.

We really, really liked him and felt great about the visit.  He was very thorough, kind, and gave lots of information.  He asked lots of questions and really seemed to care.  I think he’s really on top of it.  I have total confidence in him, and that is a huge praise.  It’s a great thing to feel like you’ve been heard and that the doctor has done all that they should do.  You know?  Especially when a baby can’t speak up to say if something hurts.

So, we’ll know more next month I guess!  :)   Thanks so much for praying!

    Great news!

Bekah has the umbilical hernia too. We had to push it in a lot when she was little to make sure the hole didn’t close up. (I couldn’t do it, I made Chad). The dr. followed up at age 3, and it’s completely cosmetic. When she gets older, if she wants it fixed, that’s fine.
